Michelle Lim is the principal optometrist who attained her BSc in Optometry (Hons) from Cardiff University, Wales, which is renowned for its consistently top-ranked UK Optometry school with great emphasis placed on the scientific and clinical aspects of the profession. During her years spent in the UK, she was trained in the different specialty clinics, further expanding her skill sets and deepened her knowledge in complex eye conditions. She excelled in areas including binocular vision, contact lens care, low vision and also provides specialised visual needs for patients with Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and other exceptional circumstances.
Michelle’s comprehensive training and exposure to diverse clinical environments have equipped her with a wealth of expertise and a compassionate approach to patient care, which she aspires to adopt in the community she serves and passed on to the students she teaches. She has been a full-time lecturer at Singapore Polytechnic for over 5 years and is the module coordinator for ocular pharmacology and clinical optometry taught to the second-year optometry students, as well as clinical practice modules to the final-year students. She also trains the students as a supervising clinician within a clinical setting at the Polytechnic.
After her teaching tenure at Singapore Polytechnic, she has since been practising professionally as a primary eye care provider, offering comprehensive eye care to a diverse range of patients. Besides managing her practice, Michelle currently holds the position of adjunct lecturer at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, where she imparts her multifaceted experience to aspiring optometry students. Her dedication to the continual advancement of her optometric profession also led her to embark on the pursuit of a doctorate in Optometry to deliver the highest level of care for her patients.
Throughout her optometric career, she has also actively taken part both individually, or leading student groups, in various community vision screening projects both locally, as well as overseas in Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and India.
